Bichon Frise

Bichon Frise, Bishon Frise, Bichon Freece, Bishon Freece

Bichon Frise is a very lively breed of dog, they bounce around like a living power puff. They are generally very well natured and so make excellent family pets. The breed requires grooming to look their best, but aside from this they are fairly low maintenance. Their exotic looks make this little designer dog a real head turner, attracting attention wherever it goes. They are an ideal companion dog, thriving on human contact and being naturally friendly and affectionate. They are more suited to living indoors than outdoors.

The breed originates from France and Belgium, but the breed lost popularity in France around the time of the French Revolution. During the First World War the breed came close to extinction, but the population has now been re-established.

The average lifespan is around 16 years, but they can live for up to 19 years with the right diet, genetics and lifestyle.

They usually grow to about 27-30cm in height and weigh an average of 5-7kgs in peak condition.
