Cavalier King Charles Spaniel

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Spaniel, CKCS, Cavalier Dogs, Cavvies

The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is an exceptionally placid and gentle little breed. They respond well to basic commands and are wonderful with little children. I have seen kids pulling their ears and tails and they have not been bothered at all. Its name arises from the fact that King Charles II reportedly preferred the company of a toy spaniel to that of his courtiers.

These dogs are bred in 4 colours:• Black and Tan (Predominantly black coat with tan markings on the eyebrows, cheeks, behind the elbows, on the inside of the legs and underneath the tail.)
Blenheim (Predominantly white coat, with chestnut markings)
Ruby (Entire coat is a rich red to chestnut. There should be no other colours at all.)
Tri-colour (A black and white coat with tan markings on the eyebrows, cheeks, behind the elbows, on the inside of the legs and underneath the tail.)

The average lifespan is around 13 years, but they can live for up to 15 years with the right diet, genetics and lifestyle.

They usually grow to about 30-34 cm in height and weigh between 5.5 and 8 kgs in peak condition.
