Irish Wolfhound

The Irish Wolfhound has some very endearing qualities which make it a great pet for the right owners. They are courageous, strong and completely devoted to their owners. They were originally bred for hunting, and are very at home in open fields on a rainy day, walking by their owner’s side. Irish Wolfhound Pics They are often referred to as a “gentle giant” and a definitely suitable for a family. They are terribly affectionate and extremely gentle with young children. Remember, however, that these are large dogs and they will eat a lot of food and so be a more expensive choice than a smaller breed. The average lifespan is around 7-8 years, but they can live for up to 10 years with the right diet, genetics and lifestyle. They usually grow to about 75-86 cm in height and weigh between 50 and 75 kgs in peak condition.
