Miniature Poodles
Miniature Poodles make an excellent family pet and they are great with small children. They are easy to train and have a friendly and lively personality and just love getting out and about to parade their fabulous hairdos. The breed comes in three main size categories; Toy, Miniature (shown on this page) and Standard. This breed is an exceptionally intelligent breed of dog, something that many people don’t realize due to the rather ‘over-the-top’ grooming that we sometimes see. The traditional clipping of Miniature Poodles was originally to help their movement through water, as historically they were water retrievers. I have met many of these dogs in my time and am yet to meet one that I don’t like. The average lifespan is around 11 years, but they can live for up to 13 years with the right diet, genetics and lifestyle. They must be between 28 and 38 cm in height if you want to show this breed in the miniature category and usually weigh between 7 and 8 kgs in peak condition.
Sorry, there are no photos at this stage. If you have a great example of this breed please email me at dr.caroline@hotmail.co.uk and I will put it up on the site!
