Saluki

The Saluki is a gentle, sleek and graceful breed of dogs which makes an excellent family pet. They are very athletic dogs and look amazing when they are able to run in open spaces. The breed originated in Egypt and is one of the oldest known, with references reaching back many many centuries. It is widely recognized as the first of the sight-hound breeds. Saluki Pics The breed comes in smooth-coated and feather-coated varieties. The feathered version has soft fringing on the tail and ears. They are gentle and content dogs that are just as happy running free or curled up by the fire. Potential owners should be prepared to exercise these dogs regularly and must make sure they take time to train and socialize the dog whilst it’s young. With children, these dogs are affectionate and tolerant, so make a great family pet. The average lifespan is around 14 years, but they can live for up to 16 years with the right diet, genetics and lifestyle. They usually grow to about 55-70 cm in height and weigh between 20 and 30 kgs in peak condition.
